It's Only a Play Releases Highlight Reel & Times Square Billboard

With the press night for It's Only a Play just one day away (!), Broadway World have today released a new six-minute highlight reel from the show.

Fans will be pleased to note that Rupert's rumoured pants-dropping entrance gets yet more airtime a mere six seconds in, as well as a very frantic Sir Frank rushing around beneath...a blanket.

Rupert/Sir Frank's interactions with his fellow cast are well documented and it seems that Rupert's comments on his neurotic, kleptomaniac counter-part are spot on!

Also, in celebration of Opening Night the production will be featured on the digital billboard of the Thompson Reuters building. Showcasing audience engagement, selfies and photos with the hastag #itsonlyaselfie will be live-streamed from 5.30pm - 10.30pm (EDT).

Watch the full feature below:

Are you seeing or have you seen the show? Let us know your thoughts on Twitter by using the hashtag #itsonlysirfrank!

Does Rupert Grint read his own reviews?

With the opening of It's Only a Play tomorrow, critics will begin to release their reviews of the Broadway production.

Considering that the plot of the show centers around the anticipation of opening night reviews, how does the cast of It's Only a Play feel about reading their own reviews?

Rupert spoke to Playbill on this topic, saying:

"No. I don't read them, no. I'm quite scared of them. I mean, the last play I did — it's such a big thing… They have so much power as well, so it does scare me to read them. I just wait for the quotes that come up on the marquee. But, I think it's a really interesting thing for an audience to witness...what it's like for the creative people to read reviews and the tension and misery it could cause."

While Rupert may not read his own reviews, we're excited to read, what must be, some glowing reviews for Rupert and the rest of the cast. May they break a leg at opening night tomorrow!

Rupert Grint: Stage Superstitions, Nerves & New Images

CBS Sunday Morning aired the first footage from It's Only a Play ahead of the show's opening night on Thursday.

Fans are treated to their first look at Rupert's eccentric director, Frank Finger, bursting onto the stage in his opening scene and then going a bit crazy by dropping his trousers.

"I have a superstition with my tie. I don't change the knot. I have a thing about that. I keep the same tie knot." Rupert shares.

"Do you still get nervous?" Stahl asks.

"Oh definitely, yeah." Rupert replies.

"Really, every night?"

"Yeah. Always before I have my first entrance. It's terrifying!"

"But boy, it doesn't show -- with you, you come bounding out there," says Stahl.

"Well, once I get the first line out, then I can."

"Once he gets his pants off," dead-panned Abraham.

Rupert Grint Promotes 'It's Only a Play' on Access Hollywood Live

Rupert appeared on Access Hollywood Live yesterday ahead of next month's official opening of It's Only a Play on Broadway.

Giving credit to the star-studded cast, Rupert says, "I remember looking around during the first table read and thinking to myself 'What am I doing here?!'", briefly mentioning Sir Frank's kleptomaniacal tendencies.

Rupert tells of a growing bond with Stockard Channing, commenting "our characters are quite close in the show", then telling that he and F. Murray Abraham have been out to see a jazz band or two (!).

New images from the show are also included, with Rupert dropping some fun tidbits about signing Ed Sheeran albums, and the trouble he's had removing eyeliner (we feel your pain, Rupert).

It's Only A Play First Preview News Roundup

If you’ve been following our latest posts here and on social media, last night (Thursday, August 28) was opening night for the first preview of It’s Only A Play. One of our staff members had the privilege of attending Rupert's Broadway debut, and she graced us with live updates on Twitter:

Claire enjoyed herself so much that she also added, in a perfect recap"Rupert Grint was not born to be Ron Weasley; Rupert Grint was born to be on stage. @ItsOnlyAPlay"

We weren't the only ones tweeting about how great the preview was either. The explore page was utterly flooded with raving reviews! Including @SammieWiedre saying (with attached Instagram photo):

"Rupert Grint along with the rest of the cast of It's Only a Play was fantastic and so in point tonight at the first preview. Phenomenal work!!!! A must see"

As evidenced in the video below, it was a sold out show and received a standing ovation at the end:

After the show, various members of the cast greeted audience members at the stage door. View photos of Rupert, F. Murray Abraham, Matthew Broderick, Megan Mullally, Nathan Lane, Stockard Channing, and Micah Stock on the Playbill website.

The Playbill website also includes an interview with Rupert discussing his past childhood theatre experiences and how they shaped him into the actor he is today.

Also, make sure to check out the HQ Stage Door photos in the gallery too!

It was a wonderful first night for the very talented cast, and it certainly looks like the play will continue to be a huge success. We can't wait to see more of Broadway Rupert!

Stick around for full reviews.

Happy 26th birthday, Rupert!

As birthdays are fortunately annual, it's that time of year again!

Rupert turns 26 today, and we couldn't be more excited about it. 25 was such a fun-filled year for him and we're sure 26 will bring even more thrills.

So, if 25 is a quarter of a century... what can we do with 26? There's 26 letters in the English alphabet; let's do something with that:

A Brilliant Comedian, Definitely Extremely Funny, Gorgeous Hair, Intense Joker, Keeper Looking Man, Next Outstanding Playstar, Quirky Rupert Swag, Top Underdog, Versatile Wizard eXpert, Young Zookeeper.

That was fun.

This is also the first (and only) time he'll turn 26 in New York City! Heading from London to NYC can be a big change, but we've created this Birthday Card post by on Facebook for fans to wish him good luck and send their birthday wishes!

We've also curated a special NYC themed birthday playlist for your enjoyment, filled with 26 songs, on Spotify.

And as a special bonus, in honor of Rupert's catchy single, "Lightning," recorded for Postman Pat: The Movie, we thought it would be a pleasant birthday tribute to "cover" it by our staff!

Wishing you the very best 26th birthday Rupert, we hope it's electrifying.
