We've got more exciting news on the development of Rupert Grint's upcoming movie 'CBGB.' Casting has been coming along nicely according to an article that states over 900 people came to audition for a role or to be an extra in the film in Savannah, Ga. As previously announced, Rupert will be playing a guitarist named Cheetah Chrome, from the band called Dead Boys, in the film alongside Alan Rickman and others. See what Randall Miller had to say about casting in an interview all about CBGB here.

Cheetah Chrome will also be appearing in the film as a cameo and in this article, director Randall Miller said, "Cheetah is looking forward to meeting his 7-year-old son's big screen idol."

Co-writer Jody Savin said in an interview, “When we were writing the script, we wanted Rupert to play Cheetah Chrome of the Dead Boys. He just looks so much like him. And we’re excited to see Rupert in a dog collar, with a scowl.”

CBGB Movie Updates, Folllow Progress on Social Media Sites and Call for Extras

There's been a lot of casting announcements recently for the film CBGB. As you may recall, Rupert was cast in the role of punk guitarist Cheetah Chrome, and filming is slated to begin June 25 in Savannah, Georgia. Other actors (in addition to the previously announced Alan Rickman as lead Hilly Kristal) who will be joining the ensemble include: Malin Akerman as Debbie Harry, Stana Katic, Joel David Moore, Johnny Galecki, Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters as Iggy Pop and Mickey Sumner as Patti Smith. The list is long, but you can keep up-to-date at IMDb!

If you live in the Georgia area, you might be interested to know that a call for extras recently went out:

The open casting call is from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. June 12 at the studio, 2315 Louisville Road. Specifically, they're looking for music lovers, musicians, motorcyclists, '70s car owners and people with a '70s "look."

Please note this does not necessarily mean you would get to be in any scenes with Rupert. But for any aspiring actors, music lovers and film buffs, it could be a great opportunity!

There are also several ways now you can stay current with the production of the film. An official Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@cbgbthemovie) account have been launched.

Rupert Grint Lands Another Role in the film CBGB

In addition to last week's previously announced casting in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, currently filming in Romania, Variety is reporting that Rupert has also landed a role in the film CBGB alongside Alan Rickman.

"CBGB" stars Alan Rickman as CBGB owner Hilly Kristal and the New York City club's impact on the underground music scene, highlighting artists like the Talking Heads, the Ramones and Blondie. Grint will play Cheetah Chrome of the Dead Boys, who played a prominent role during the club's rise.

CBGB  is also being directed Randall Miller (who also cast Rupert in The Drummer) and is expected to begin shooting this June. Filming for The Drummer has been pushed back to the fall, as previously reported.

Stay tuned to RG.net for the latest on all of Rupert's upcoming projects!
