Sony Pictures Classics has picked up North American rights to Driving Lessons, the film that marks the directing debut of Mrs. Brown screenwriter Jeremy Brock.

In Brock's loosely autobiographical coming-of-age tale, Ben ("Harry Potter" star Rupert Grint) is a shy teenager living in London who is trying to escape from the clutches of his stern and religious mother (Laura Linney). He finally gets his chance when he meets a retired actress (Julie Walters) who whisks him off to Edinburgh, where he learns to drive, dance, and pick up girls.
